Kinkajou
by Austin
rain forest animal

My animal is a Kinkajou. It lives in the Rainforest. It lives on the canopy of the Rainforest. The Kinkajou is also known as the “Night Walker”. The Kinkajou is a monkey that sounds like a mouse/monkey. It feels furry. It’s back is hairy as the rest of it’s body is. My animal is nocturnal so it can see predators really easy. It climbs trees to get away from predators. If its a Jaguar that is following it, it will climb a smaller branch that the Jaguar can’t climb. My animal mainly feeds on fruit or insects. When it is hot and dry they often eat flowers for their juicy nectar. The Kinkajou usually collect it’s food by jumping from tree to tree. My animal is a pet for people who love animals. Its’ supposed to be free in the Rainforest, but they still sell them as pets. My animal is 1.5 ft. tall, it weighs about 6.5 lbs., it usually has 1 baby every lifetime, and it lives to be about 23 years old.
