My animal is a slender loris. It belongs to the monkey family. It lives in Southern India's and Sir Lanka's rain forest. It lives in the under story of the rain forest.

The slender loris is the size of a chipmunk. It is between 6 - 10 inches long. It has long pencil-like arms and legs. The slender loris has large brown eyes and large ears too.

The slender loris is nocturnal, which means it is awake at night. It spends the day sleeping in a hollow tree, this helps to protect it. The slender loris also likes thick and thorny places where they can easily escape their predators.

The slender loris eats insects, slugs,leaves,and flowers. It can crawl through branches to get its prey. The slender loris eats a lot of bad smelling insects. It really likes the acacia ant whose bite can numb a human arm.

I could not have a Slender Loris as a pet because it is small and afraid of me. Also because it is a wild animal and it needs to be in the rain forest. Plus, I am not catching bugs for it to eat!

The Slender Loris hunts by its self at night but will bring food back to share with the others. It is also very social at sunrise and sunset, playing and wrestling. The Native people believe that the slender loris has magical powers.
